How Do You Know If You'll Be a Success?

The #1 predictor of success has always been a hotly debated topic, with many complex answers. But when I thought about it (and considering it from my own perspective), no amount of intelligence, or knowledge, or vision, or risk-taking or work ethic will get you over the line without two things : resilience AND persistence. On paper you might tick all the above boxes – but if you give up and don’t show up – day after day … you simply won’t be successful.

In my own life I had struggled in a full time high pressure role, raised twin boys in a state far away from friends, had no family support and was certainly not financially flush – but I followed mentors, read every book I could find, went to sleep each night imagining how giving up on my dream would feel on my death bed – and that gave me the momentum I needed to learn resilience and to show up and lean in to the online community I had surrounded myself with. I saved, borrowed, invested in courses, paid for teachers/mentors and knew that the more I immersed myself within an entrepreneurial community the more I would change my mindset and flex my ‘good habits muscle’. 💪 And I gave back, leant in, shared info and made friends.

💡I actually believe that being ‘comfortable’ financially can sometimes be a hindrance to personal achievement as it’s when your back is against the wall that you really know you have to come out fighting – and fast! Double income, own your home, inheritance etc …. all those things are AWESOME - however it can take the urgency from your cause if you let it – that’s only human. And that’s perfectly fine if that’s where you want to be – but slowly over time the burnout creeps in and then you start looking around and realising there must be a better way. Most of us are not blessed with ‘easy money’ and we have had to work hard for it and put ourselves out there. I get to talk to many people in my counselling and coaching who are incredibly inspiring – they are working 3 jobs, have kids, and still are telling me they’ll find time to ‘do this’! Yeah! What an attitude! They are true heroes. 🏆

My belief is that if you develop resilience and show up every day, you will learn other desirable attributes such as vision, knowledge, leadership traits and financial management.

Focus on your passion, be dedicated and disciplined, open to learning from others, and always, always remember there are people out there working way harder than any of us can ever imagine. Look at the blessings around you and the opportunities we have. We are rich with promise, so try to stop the excuses of busyness and fear – reach out, help is all around you! 🤚

“Working with Liz has opened my eyes to my habit of avoidance of anything I didn't want to deal with in the moment - until it all became too much.  Liz has been my guiding light to eliminating my self destructive behaviours that stopped me moving forward.  Sometimes tough and taking no prisoners, but always acting with compassion and empathy. I know she has walked the talk." - Julie

“I knew in my heart what I needed to do, but I lacked the support system or knowledge of how to set myself up for success.  Liz calls it our scaffolding.  I am becoming better at ensuring my new undertakings have a structured plan in place to ensure I have more confidence moving forward.  I cannot tell you how much more joy I have waking each day.  It's like I have a new life that is unrolling each day!" - Carin

"After my husband died I felt tremendous guilt that I did not overly grieve.  Instead I found liberation and a newfound sense of freedom and curiosity each day.  I reveled in learning to do things for myself but was ravaged with guilt that I should feel this way. Coaching with Liz has brought me peace.  I realise it doesn't mean I loved him less, but I never had my chance in life to see what I was really capable of.  Now every day I find out more and more and I love my new/different life" - Joanna
